Virginia Lapham, PhD will
present a program on the Flood of 1916 as it affected
the town of Marshall when the French Broad River
overflowed and flooded the town. Dr. Lapham's
family lost at least one member in the flood.
Following the program, she will guide a walking tour
of downtown Marshall and the places affected by the
flood in the town.
We will gather at the depot in
Marshall at 2 PM for the program, which will be
followed by the tour. Those participating in the
tour are advised to bring comfortable walking shoes
and drinking water.
